Kitten Season Approaches: What You Can Do


I’m reminded of the poem written by Carl Sandburg:

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

It reminds me of the approach of Spring and along with it: KITTEN SEASON. It just sneaks up on you every year!

Suddenly, animal shelters look as if a space ship of Tribbles have landed and populated all the cages. Black, white, gray, blue, yellow, orange, brown. Striped, spotted, tortoiseshell, tuxedo. Long hair, short hair, medium hair.

Kitten season reminds me it’s time to talk about the importance of neutering again. Since cats won’t police themselves in this regard, we humans have to do it. I am amazed that in this current day there are still people who don’t think they need to spay or neuter their cats.
